10:30 a.m. - 11:30 Kevin Mattson lecture on Corporatization of Campus -
Kevin Mattson is the Connor Study Professor of Contemporary History at Ohio University and the author of Steal This University!: The Rise of the Corporate University and the Academic Labor Movement, among other books. He has recently written provocative articles about various aspects of this issue in the Nation, the American Prospect, Academe and other publications. His is an exciting emerging voice about the direction of the university and what we can do to re-route the way things are headed.

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 Discussion and response to Kevin's talk
Large group discussion of issues raised by Kevin's talk. Topics will include the growing role of adjuncts, concerns about distance learning, commercial pressures on universities, recent conservative attacks on alleged liberal dominance, role of labor in securing a better university life and intellectual property rights.

12:30 p.m. - 1:00 Lunch

1:00 p.m. - 2:15 Group discussion of the future of the Progressive Scholars Network
Group discussion will seek feedback on how to build a vibrant progressive network than can help confront the crucial issues facing our state and our campuses.

2:30 Adjourn


The fee for the conference is $50 for professors and $15 for adjunct professors and graduate students.
