About Policy Matters

Mission

Policy Matters Ohio is a non-profit policy research organization founded in January 2000 to broaden the debate about economic policy in Ohio. We are funded by a number of foundations, organizations
and individuals, including The Joyce Foundation, the George Gund Foundation, the Cleveland Foundation, the Sisters of Charity Foundation, the New World Foundation, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Heinz Endowment, the Open Society Institute, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, KnowledgeWorks, the Public Welfare Foundation and Greater Cleveland Community Shares. Our mission is to conduct high-quality research promoting decisions which benefit our whole community. Given the challenges of a rapidly-changing economic system, rising wage inequality, new issues in education and changes in the way work is organized, it is imperative that high quality research focuses on creating an economy that works for everyone.

Policy Matters provides real-world analysis focused on issues that matter to low- and middle-income workers in Ohio. Our findings are accessible to the public, the media, and policy makers. Through research, conferences, media work, advocacy and popular education, we hope to encourage a more fair and prosperous economy in Ohio and the United States.
