The Ohio Scholars Bureau
The Ohio Scholars Bureau, sponsored by Policy Matters Ohio, is designed to increase public access to academics who can bring insight, information and scholarship to policy debate across the state. Intended as a resource for reporters, policymakers, event organizers, activists, and the community, the Scholars Bureau consists of professors and others whose expertise is relevant to public policy discussions. |
|
Though Policy Matters works primarily on economic and work-related policy issues, Bureau members' interests go well beyond these themes. Since Policy Matters' inception, we have noticed the great demand for expert policy opinion on many social, economic and cultural issues. At the same time, our work regularly brings us in contact with highly informed researchers eager to share their expertise outside of a campus setting. The Scholars Bureau is our attempt to bring experts with messages worth hearing in touch with reporters, policymakers, activists and others who want to hear a wider array of messages. By bringing more voices into the debate, we hope to enrich our democracy.
We stress that this list is not comprehensive. Naturally, there are Ohio academics with much to offer who are not yet a part of the Scholars Bureau. It is also important to note that Bureau members are not official voices of Policy Matters--we have not read all of their writings, do not necessarily endorse their findings, do not have any influence over what they say, and may not have any expertise in their fields. Policy Matters is simply taking a sponsorship role in making their research available to you.
Ohio Scholars Bureau members are listed below by field of study, affiliated university or institute, and contact information in order of preference. You may also reach faculty through Policy Matters by calling 216-361-9801 or by emailing Amy Hanauer at ahanauer AT policymattersohio.org. For media, this may be a quicker method, since academic schedules can be tight. |
