The State of Working America 2000 Ohio Supplement
By
2000, persistently low unemployment and inflation, an increase in work
hours, and increases in the federal minimum wage had combined to reverse
two decades of wage erosion in Ohio. However, at the same time, income
inequality continued to grow, minorities and young workers faced relatively
higher levels of poverty and unemployment, Ohio families encountered
both growing work hours and debt, and child poverty reached high levels.
