Policy Matters, NOBLE, CEO Project highlight refundable tax credits for workers and parents

Ohio’s tax system is upside-down and backward, catering to the wealthiest at the expense of the lowest-paid, and leaving our state with too little resources to meet critical needs. With heated tax policy debates ongoing in both Columbus and Washington, advocates have an opportunity to reform our state and federal tax codes to support workers and parents alike through two refundable tax credits: the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Tax experts and advocates from Policy Matters Ohio, Northeast Ohioans for Budget Legislation Equality (NOBLE) and the Care Economy Organizing (CEO) Project will discuss the positive impact of these two federal refundable tax credits and why we should expand these credits at both the federal and state level.

The webinar will also introduce new legislative district factsheets from Policy Matters on the benefits of the CTC and the EITC for all 132 state legislative districts and 15 congressional districts.

WHEN: Tax Day, Tuesday, April 15, 2025 11:00am.

  • Bailey Williams, Tax Researcher, Policy Matters Ohio
  • Lauren Schenk, Organizer, Northeast Ohioans for Budget Legislation Equality (NOBLE)
